You can now scan a QR code with Touch ‘n Go eWallet for parking at 70 locations nationwide

Touch ‘n Go eWallet has announced that Malaysians are now able to pay for parking at selected parking sites across the country, with up to 70 locations supported right now. This new feature, dubbed as Scan QR, means that you’ll no longer need to search for an autopay station or requiring to have the minimum account in your Touch ‘n Go card.

Scan QR is basically Touch ‘n Go eWallet’s seamless payment system for parking using the eWallet app. There will be no need for any parking ticket here; users simply scan a QR code using the Touch ‘n Go eWallet app upon the car park entry and exit, and it’ll automatically deduct the parking fee on exit. There are no additional charges by Touch ‘n Go eWallet for using Scan QR, with all charges levied based on each parking site’s fares.

It’s also worth noting that according to Touch ‘n Go eWallet, you don’t need an internet connection to exit the car park too. Instead, you need to scan the QR code upon entry and exit, and it’ll deduct the parking fee once you’re reconnected to the internet. This will likely be important at underground car parks in particular where cell reception isn’t great.

Also, if your smartphone runs out of battery after you enter a car park with Scan QR, the parking management can still issue you a parking ticket after you provide them the phone number linked to your Touch ‘n Go eWallet.

Most of the locations are local attractions which include the likes of LRT stations, local malls and commercial centers. Incidentally, while Touch ‘n Go says that there are 70 sites in Malaysia with Scan QR support, only 60 of them are listed on their website at the time being:
