Work on Subang Jaya health clinic to start next March

CONSTRUCTION of a much- needed government health clinic in Subang Jaya is expected to start early next year, following approval of its planning permission by the Town and Country Planning Department (PlanMalaysia) last month.

“PlanMalaysia granted the planning permission for the USJ 1 Health Clinic on Sept 27,” Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng and Subang MP Wong Chen said in a joint media statement.

“This RM52.64mil project was approved last year.

“The tender process will begin this month.

“Construction is expected to start in March 2025 and completion by March 2028.”

The health clinic will be a Type 2 (KK2) with a land area covering 17,150sq metres.

According to the Health Ministry’s website, a KK2 offers outpatient treatment, accidents and emergencies department, maternity and paediatric care, dentistry, rehabilitation therapy, diagnostic imaging (X-ray), laboratory services and a pharmacy.

A KK2 is designed to cater to an average of 500 to 800 patients per day, for a catchment population of more than 50,000.

The health clinic will be located at Jalan Subang 3 in USJ 1, next to SJK (C) Chee Wen in Selangor.

“This clinic will also have an Infectious Disease unit.

“This project will be implemented by the Public Works Department’s Health Works branch,” said the joint statement.

They also thanked Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad for his commitment and effort to ensure that the health clinic project moved in a positive direction.

There are presently no government health facilities in Subang Jaya, with residents having to travel to Petaling Jaya, Puchong or Shah Alam to seek medical treatment at either a health clinic or government hospital.

It was reported that efforts to establish a health clinic in Subang Jaya have been ongoing for some 20 years.
