Join us for a profound spiritual celebration as we honor Wesak and Saga Dawa Duchen, the most revered days in the Buddhist calendar. These sacred events commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Lord Buddha Shakyamuni, offering a time for deep reflection, fervent Dharma practice, and virtuous activities. What to Expect:

Wesak Day:

  • Date: 22 May 2024 (Wednesday)
  • Time: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm Morning Puja; from 12:00 pm chanting by the Mahasanghas in Kathmandu with Robes Offering via Zoom.

The day begins with a Morning Puja led by the Executive Committee, featuring Lamp Offerings and a liturgy dedicated to propitiating Lord Shakyamuni Buddha. Following the puja, the Mahasanghas in Kathmandu will lead a chanting session via Zoom, providing a unique opportunity to participate in a robes offering ceremony remotely. The celebration also includes the traditional Bathing Baby Buddha Ceremony, symbolizing purification and renewal, followed by a delightful vegetarian lunch.

Saga Dawa:

  • Date: 23 May 2024 (Thursday)
  • Time: 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

The festivities continue with Saga Dawa, a day dedicated to honoring the enlightenment and parinirvana of Lord Buddha. The program includes a puja with Lamp Offerings, Prostrations, and Offerings to the 16 Arhats and a special recitation of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha’s mantra. This day is marked by deep devotion and the generation of immense merit, amplifying the spiritual benefits for all participants.
