Water Leak Incident: Victim’s Mobile Phone Active, Signal Detected Around Puchong or Shah Alam – Police

KUALA LUMPUR: The mobile phone belonging to the man who was swept away by floodwaters in the Klang River near the Saloma Interchange yesterday is still active and can be contacted, according to Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam.

He said the phone briefly rings before disconnecting, and its latest detected location points to the Puchong or Shah Alam area.

“The victim’s phone is still ringing, but only for a short moment before it stops. Based on its location, we estimate that it may be in the Puchong or Shah Alam area,” he said at a press conference.

He added that the phone was believed to have been inside a bag during the incident.

“It is possible that the phone drifted away with the bag, and not with the victim,” he explained.

Earlier today, the search and rescue (SAR) operation entered its second day, covering a 20-kilometre stretch from the Saloma Interchange to the KESAS Highway toll plaza in Shah Alam.

Despite deploying multiple assets including drones and boats, the team has yet to locate the victim.
