SEPANG: A father and his 12-year-old son, who went viral for driving a car in the Taman Putra Impiana area in Puchong, will be charged in the Sepang Court on Wednesday.
Sepang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, stated that the authorities had received instructions to proceed with the charges from the Deputy Public Prosecutor after completing the investigation.
"The boy’s father will be charged under Section 39(5) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The child will be charged under Section 39(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a penalty under Section 39(5) of the same act,” he said to Sinar Harian on Monday.
Last Saturday, the police announced that they had received instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor to proceed with the charges.
Last Wednesday, Sinar Harian reported that the investigation was also conducted under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
Following this, the police recorded statements from seven individuals, including the 53-year-old father, who is also a trader.
Prior to that, Sinar Harian reported that a video went viral showing a 12-year-old boy driving a Perodua Viva, with his two siblings aged four and six in the car.
The police investigation revealed that the incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on July 28th.
