Victim Cooperates With Police To Lure Sexual Assault Suspect Into Trap, Leading To Arrest

Victim Helps Police Nab Alleged Attacker in Sting Operation

PETALING JAYA: A 24-year-old woman allegedly sexually assaulted by a deliveryman played a crucial role in his arrest by agreeing to assist police in a sting operation.

According to a report by China Press, the victim, who works as an insurance agent, lodged a police report immediately after the incident. Investigators then sought her cooperation to help trap the suspect.

She agreed to act as bait, arranging to meet the man under the pretext of asking him to delete videos he had allegedly recorded during the assault. The meeting was set, but when plainclothes officers moved in to make the arrest, the suspect allegedly sped off in his van, triggering a high-speed chase.

Police pursued the vehicle from Taman OUG in Kuala Lumpur all the way to Puchong, Selangor, where the man was finally apprehended.

Yesterday (March 2), the victim further assisted authorities by taking part in a suspect identification process.

The alleged assault took place at the victim’s apartment in Taman OUG last Thursday (Feb 26). She had arranged for a delivery service to transport items from her previous residence to her new home. When the suspect arrived, he allegedly claimed he needed to enter her bedroom to look for certain items.

Once inside, he reportedly pushed her onto the bed and began removing her clothes. When she resisted, he allegedly smothered her face with a pillow and choked her.

The suspect also reportedly threatened to kill her and recorded several videos of the assault. Following the incident, he allegedly sent text messages apologising for his actions.

“He had filmed videos of me being humiliated and used them to threaten me. When we met, he showed me that he had deleted the videos,” she told the Chinese daily.

The suspect agreed to delete the footage when they met, unaware that the meeting was a police setup.
