Transportation Crisis: Malaysian Endures Marathon Journey Home as Fuel Shortage Grips Nation

Every festive season in Malaysia means going back to kampung to spend time with the family and taking a short (but very much) needed break from the hectic work. As exciting as it sounds, the journey back to kampung can be daunting, especially for those who cannot avoid interstate travel by car.

With the ongoing Raya season, many Malaysians who celebrate have started their journey back to hometown as early as last Friday (April 5). The doubled journey time is expected but a Malaysian woman shared some pictures of her journey on her TikTok account @sue_haniey and revealed the time taken for her to drive from Puchong to Machang, Kelantan.

It took her 23 LONG HOURS to reach her destination!

That is almost equivalent to the flight hours from Malaysia to the United States of America. It was not a pleasant journey as Sue was alone the entire time under the scorching weather, which caused her to have a temporary migraine.

If the traffic condition is smooth, it takes around 7 to 8 hours to reach Kota Bharu, Kelantan from KL.

The journey became tougher when Sue’s car ALMOST ran out of gas, and she was still MILES AWAY from the nearest gas station.

However, it was her lucky night (and other drivers too) as they encountered a group of men who sold petrol by the road, which came in handy to those who were in dire need of a refuel.
