Kuala Lumpur: Traffic flow on the first day of the implementation of the Work From Home (BDR) policy for the public service sector today was reported to be controlled, with several major routes in the Klang Valley experiencing slow movement during peak hours.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) told Bernama that traffic flow began to slow as early as 7 a.m. following an increase in vehicles, but the overall situation remained under control and did not show significant changes compared to normal working days.
He said that as of 9.20 a.m. today, among the routes reported to be slow on the North-South Expressway were Sungai Buloh Hospital to Bukit Lanjan, Putra Mahkota to Kajang, and the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza to the city center.
"Traffic flow was also reported to be slow on the NKVE Expressway from the Damansara interchange to Damansara Utama, the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) from Bukit Rimau to Persiaran Kewajipan, and from SUKOM to Awan Kecil, Awan Besar to Kinrara, Sunway to Persiaran Kewajipan, and Bandar Botanik to Pandamaran.
“Slow traffic was also detected on the ELITE Expressway from Putrajaya to Putra Heights, USJ to Shah Alam, and from Putra Heights to Bandar Saujana Putra and the Putrajaya-Cyberjaya Toll Plaza, while on the Grand Saga Expressway (E7) from Bandar Tun Hussein Onn to the city center,” he said.
Additionally, similar conditions were reported on the Sungai Besi Expressway (E9) from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to the North Mines Toll, Sungai Besi to the Kuchai interchange, and Salak Jaya to the city center, as well as the Loke Yew Toll to Jalan Istana.
The LLM spokesperson also informed that on the New Pantai Expressway (NPE), slow flow was reported from Pantai Dalam to Angkasapuri, as well as Kuchai Lama to Pantai Dalam, and Sunway Pyramid to Persiaran Kewajipan, in addition to the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) from Puchong Utama to the Cable Bridge, Jalan Majlis to Taman Megah, and Sungai Penchala to SS2.
Meanwhile, on the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH), traffic was slow from Jelatek to the Datuk Keramat Toll Plaza, while on the Kemuning-Shah Alam Expressway (LKSA) from Kota Kemuning to Sri Muda and Alam Impian to the Shah Alam city center.
"Traffic flow was also slow on the westbound SILK Highway from South Cheras to Taming Jaya, Balakong to the The Mines slip road, Bukit Kajang to Kajang Utama, and Sungai Ramal to the National Energy University (UNITEN), besides the Maju Expressway (MEX) from Sri Kembangan to Kuchai Lama and the Kajang-Seremban Highway (LEKAS) from South Kajang to Kajang Perdana.
“On the SPRINT Highway, slow traffic flow was from Kayu Ara to Damansara Utama, Penchala to TTDI, and Jalan Duta to Sri Hartamas, while on the DASH Highway from Kota Damansara to Penchala,” he said.
Furthermore, on the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE), slow flow was heading south from Greenwood to Sentul Pasar and Segambut to Bamboo Hills, while on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) from Bukit Jelutong to Jalan Subang.
The implementation of the BDR policy for the public service sector began today as a strategic step by the government to strengthen the nation’s preparedness in facing the global energy crisis following the conflict in West Asia.
