KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old teenager was rescued after a fire engulfed an apartment unit in Sri Pulai, Puchong, early today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the teenager was rescued from one of the rooms during the firefighting operation.
"The fire involved an apartment unit with an estimated floor area of 800 sq ft, with about 80 per cent of the unit affected.
"The department received an emergency call at 6.59am involving a fire at a third-floor unit in Block A of the Sri Pulai Apartments.
“Firemen from the Puchong station were despatched to the scene, with assistance from the Cyberjaya station, and arrived at 7.09am,” he said in a statement.
He said the fire was brought under control at 7.33am, adding that eight personnel were involved, supported by two fire rescue tenders, a water tanker and an emergency medical rescue services vehicle.
