Teen nabbed for trespassing on LRT tracks for fun

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested two teenage boys on Saturday night after one of them trespassed onto the Sri Petaling LRT line tracks at the Muhibbah station in Bukit OUG, Kuala Lumpur, apparently for fun.

Cheras police chief Rosdi Daud said the incident occurred at around 11.52pm and was detected by security personnel monitoring CCTV cameras, who noticed one of the teens dancing on the tracks.

The teen and his friend were immediately arrested by auxiliary policemen before being handed over to authorities at the Bukit Jalil police station.

“The suspects, aged 16 and 17, were remanded until Sunday before being released on bail,” Rosdi said in a statement.

He said the pair were investigated under Section 62 of the Railways Act for trespassing on train tracks, an offence that carries a fine or jail term upon conviction.

However, he added that deputy public prosecutors ordered for the teens to be released, citing their young age and the potential impact a court proceeding would have on their future.

Cheras Loan Shark Group Busted

In a separate development, Rosdi said Cheras police dismantled a loan shark ring allegedly involved in 18 harassment cases across the Klang Valley, including Kuala Lumpur, Puchong, Petaling Jaya, and Rawang.

Four men, aged 19 to 26, were arrested on April 23 after a contractor reported that posters making accusations against him had been put up around his housing area. He also claimed to have received threatening phone calls.

Following the arrests, police seized a Perodua Axia, five handphones, a megaphone, and two “debt collector” vests. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

“All four suspects were remanded for three days and released on police bail yesterday. The investigation paper is being completed and will be referred to prosecutors for further action,” Rosdi said.
