SUBANG JAYA: A drug syndicate catering to the local market has been busted with over 300kg of syabu worth almost RM11mil being seized, say the police.
Two suspects, believed to be the runners, were nabbed in an operation in Sri Petaling and Puchong last Friday.
Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin said the raiding team arrested a 34-year-old man in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling at about 10.50pm.
“We stopped a vehicle driven by the suspect and apprehended him. We then arrested his 30-year-old accomplice at Jalan Puchong Jaya at 11.30pm that night,” he told reporters at the Subang Jaya police headquarters yesterday.
Comm Khaw said the two men then directed the raiding team to a double-storey house in Bandar Baru Bukit Puchong, where the drugs were stored.
“We seized 319 packets of herbal tea filled with syabu and two weighing machines. The drugs are worth RM10.9mil and believed to be for the local market,” he added.
“They have been renting the house for RM1,800 a month since September,” Comm Khaw said, adding that both suspects have been remanded until this Friday.
The two, who have criminal records, however tested negative for drugs.
“We also seized two cars and jewellery belonging to the suspects worth RM70,270,” he said.
