PETALING JAYA: Six Indian nationals have been detained to assist in investigations into the death of a man who was found on a staircase of a shoplot in Pusat Bandar Puchong, Serdang, yesterday, in a case believed to involve foul play.
Serdang district police chief ACP Muhamad Farid Ahmad said all six men are housemates of the main suspect, who is also an Indian national and has been identified by police.
“We have reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the location, and there are recordings that may assist in the investigation,” he said, as quoted by Sinar Harian.
He added that statements from four witnesses, including the individual who lodged the police report, have been recorded to aid investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
According to him, the victim, who had been residing in Malaysia for approximately 19 years, was self-employed as an electrician.
Police reportedly received a call at 7.03pm yesterday informing them that a man had been found unconscious on the staircase of a shop lot. The victim was later identified as a 49-year-old permanent resident who was pronounced dead at the scene, with police suspecting he was murdered.
