Sabah's full Cabinet revealed

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah now has its full cabinet, with the swearing-in ceremony held at Istana Negeri here on Thursday (Oct 8).

Datuk Kadzim M. Yahya was sworn in as the new state speaker, while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Sabah’s Datuk Aripin Arif was made the Special Tasks Minister.

Umno’s Dauk Jafry Ariffin is the Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, while Shahelmy Yahya, also from Umno, is the Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister.

Datuk Yakubah Khan (Umno) is the Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, while Sabah STAR’s Datuk Ellron Angin is the Youth and Sports Minister.

Assistant ministers to the Chief Minister are former Upko’s Datuk Abidin Madingkir, who is now Sabah STAR member, and Bersatu’s Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.

Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan (Bersatu) and Jasni Daya of Umno were made Assistant Finance Ministers.

Datuk Limus Jury of Bersatu and Datuk Robert Tawik @ Nordin of Sabah STAR are Public Works Assistant Ministers.

Datuk James bin Ratib (Umno) and PBS Hendrus Anding are Agriculture and Food Industries Assistant Ministers.

Umno’s Tamin @ Tamin bin Zainal is the Industry Development Assistant Minister.

Datuk Isnin Aliasnih @ Liasnih (Bersatu) and Mohamad Hamsan Awang Supian (Umno) are Local Government and Housing Assistant Minister and Assistant Finance Minister II.

Samad bin Jambri @ Jamri (Bersatu) and Harun Durabi (Umno) are Rural Development Assistant Ministers.

The Tourism, Culture and Environment assistant ministers posts are held by Datuk Joniston Bangkuai of PBS.

Datuk Julita Mojungki (PBS) and Sabah STAR’s Flovia Ng are assistant ministers to the Community Development and People’s Wellbeing ministry.

Independent Datuk Ruddy Awah is the Science, Technology and Innovation Assistant Minister.

Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy (Umno) is the assistant Youth and Sports Minister.

Sabah Bersatu chairman Datuk Hajiji Noor was named Chief Minister on Sept 28, and he promptly appointed Sabah Umno chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin as Deputy Chief Minister (I), Sabah STAR president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan as Deputy Chief Minister (II) and PBS vice president Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam as Deputy Chief Minister (III).

Bung was also made the Infrastructure Development Minister and Jeffrey was given the Agriculture and Food Industry portfolio, while Joachim holds the Trade and Industry portfolio.

Also appointed last week was Sabah Bersatu deputy chairman Datuk Masidi Manjun as Local Government and Housing Minister cum second Finance Minister and PBS secretary general Datuk Jahid Jahim as Rural Development Minister.

Overall, Umno holds four full minister posts and Bersatu three, while PBS and Sabah STAR each hold two.

As for the assistant ministers posts, Umno holds six, Bersatu five, PBS and Sabah STAR holds three each, with one being held by an independent.
