PETALING JAYA: Customs authorities have seized adult merchandise valued at approximately RM800,000 during an operation at a warehouse in Puchong, Selangor.
According to Utusan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur Customs director Wan Norizan Wan Daud said officers discovered 18,140 adult items of various types and brands during an inspection at an industrial facility in Taman Perindustrian Putra on Sept 30.
She said the goods, which were intended for online distribution, were believed to have been imported from a neighbouring country. The warehouse owner was detained to assist with investigations.
Wan Norizan added that the seized items were categorised as “absolutely prohibited goods” under the First Schedule, Fifth Item of the Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Order 2023.
In a separate operation, customs officers also intercepted a shipping container at North Port, Port Klang, containing 373 mopeds and electric folding scooters.
The 49cc mopeds and electric-powered scooters were estimated to be worth RM154,626, with unpaid duties and taxes amounting to RM93,940.
Preliminary findings indicated that the items were declared as components imported from China. Wan Norizan said such imports require prior approval and valid permits from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.
Both cases are currently being investigated under the Customs Act 1967.
