Skechers Malaysia is investigating hygiene complaints involving a store in Puchong after a staff member’s viral post raised serious concerns about cleanliness at the outlet.
The employee alleged ongoing issues such as rat droppings and urine on shoeboxes, cockroach infestations in staff areas, and even an unpaid water bill. The claims, shared on social media, quickly gained traction, drawing widespread attention and sparking concern among customers.
According to the staff member, she had previously reported the issues internally but was told to simply clean affected items instead of addressing the root problem. She also shared photos allegedly showing contaminated shoeboxes and poorly stored inventory in the stockroom.
In response, Skechers Malaysia clarified that the outlet is operated by an authorised dealer, meaning daily operations and maintenance fall under the dealer’s responsibility. However, the company emphasized that it is taking the matter seriously and is working closely with the operator to investigate and resolve the situation.
The brand stated that all retail partners are required to meet strict operational and hygiene standards, adding that any lapses identified will be addressed promptly. The incident has since sparked discussions online about retail hygiene practices and accountability.
