Puchong Semiconductor Design Park Highlighted as Selangor Attracts RM3 Billion in Potential Investment

Selangor has attracted more than RM3 billion in potential investment from four foreign companies, with Puchong highlighted as part of the state’s plans to strengthen Malaysia’s semiconductor and technology industries.

The announcement was made at the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, which opened at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on 14 October and runs until 17 October.

Key Investment Highlights

  • Potential investment: More than RM3 billion from four foreign investors

  • Investors: Shenghui Biotechnology, Galaxy Data Centre, XTC New Energy and Wuxi Weifu Environmental Catalysts

  • Event: Selangor International Business Summit 2026

  • Dates: 14–17 October 2026

  • Venue: Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Why Puchong Is Part of the Technology Plan

During the summit, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari highlighted the Malaysia Semiconductor IC Design Park in Puchong as part of the state’s strategy to move into higher-value semiconductor activities.

These include integrated circuit (IC) design, electronic design automation and intellectual property development. The initiative also aims to provide computing infrastructure and develop local engineering talent.

Semiconductors are important components in products such as smartphones, computers, vehicles and artificial intelligence systems.

The focus on semiconductor design puts Puchong on the map as part of Selangor’s technology ambitions. If these initiatives expand, they could create opportunities for skilled workers, engineers, technology businesses and supporting services in the surrounding area.

However, the RM3 billion figure represents potential investment, rather than money already fully invested or projects completed.

Do you think Puchong has the potential to become a bigger technology hub, and what kinds of jobs or businesses could benefit from this development?
