More than 700 residents gathered at Taman Tasik Wawasan to protest a proposed mixed-use development beside the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve. The group highlighted concerns about traffic congestion, environmental impact, underground water channels and the loss of greenery.
The project is expected to include 2,724 condominium units with an estimated population increase of more than 10,000 residents. Preliminary details surfaced during the Social Impact Assessment process, but residents said they have yet to receive clear explanations from the authorities.
Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han clarified that the land in question is not part of the forest reserve and that MBSJ has not received any development application. He noted that the Social Impact Assessment is only a preliminary step and called for a physical discussion session to ensure transparent engagement.
Residents urged MBSJ and relevant state agencies to make all assessment reports, including the Social Impact Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment and Traffic Impact Assessment, publicly accessible before any planning approval is considered.
