PETALING JAYA:

Police have not received any report on the loud explosion allegedly heard by residents in Seri Kembangan yesterday, says Serdang police chief A A Anbalagan.

This comes after Berita Harian reported claims by several people on social media that a loud blast was heard in the vicinity of Seri Kembangan at about 8pm.

The explosion was also allegedly heard by residents in Sierra 16, Puchong Batu 14, Puncak Jalil and Seri Serdang.

A Facebook user claimed it rattled the windows of his house, and said he had never heard anything that loud before.

“It sounded like a bamboo cannon, like a bomb,” he said, adding that the explosion was being widely discussed by WhatsApp and Facebook groups.

According to other Facebook users, some people claim the sound originated from a large fireworks explosion.

The Selangor fire and rescue department also said it has not received any calls about the incident.
