The controversial Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link project, which was approved in September 2020, has been met with multiple protests by residents.
Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung says the proposed changes do not align with the Cabinet’s decision.
PETALING JAYA:
The latest alignment proposed by the developer of the Petaling Jaya Dispersal (PJD) Link highway is merely a modification of the old route, not a new alignment as decided by the Cabinet, says Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung.
Lee, who attended the Selangor Economic Action Meeting yesterday, said several elected representatives also shared the same view.
“As a matter of respect for the Cabinet’s decision (on May 8 last year), any future discussions should be based on the new alignment, which is clearly different from the existing route,” he said in a statement today.

On Nov 28 last year, Lee revealed that federal agencies had approved the new realignment plan for the PJD Link highway proposed by its developer.
He said MPs were informed that a Cabinet meeting had agreed on May 8 to grant the project developer, PJD Link (M) Sdn Bhd, the flexibility to submit a fresh proposal for a new alignment.
“The ball is now in the Selangor government’s court, to decide whether the project will proceed or otherwise,” he said at the time.
The federal government initially approved the highway project in principle in November 2017. It received conditional approval in April 2022.
However, in April last year, the unity government scrapped the project after the concessionaire failed to meet six of the 11 conditions set by Putrajaya.
The Selangor government had announced the project’s cancellation on July 31, 2023, citing an unsatisfactory social impact assessment and non-compliance with state conditions.
Lee expressed hope that the long-standing issue, which has sparked concern among Petaling Jaya residents, could finally be resolved.
He also urged stakeholders to focus on enhancing public transport infrastructure in the area instead.
