Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has confirmed that a new access road will be built for residents in Taman Kinrara, Section 5 of Puchong in Selangor.
In a statement to StarMetro, MBSJ said the preparation of the tender documents and design for the new road, dubbed Jalan TK5/32, were in progress.
Taman Kinrara flats resident Saiful Anuar said residents had been waiting decades for a proper access road into the area, as the two other roads – Jalan TK5/32a and Jalan TK4/5 – were heavily used and prone to accident.
Taman Kinrara Section 5 residents’ representative, Zaulkefli Ahmad said the new road was a long time coming.
Jagathisvaran hopes the new road will reduce traffic congestion and prevent accidents.
“MBSJ had meetings with residents. We were assured that an access road would be built in 2017.
“It has now been eight years and there is still no progress.”
He added that those entering Jalan TK5/32a would need to go through a narrow road to make a left turn, creating a bottleneck.
Taman Kinrara Section 4 resident Jagathisvaran Debarajan said the new road should facilitate smooth traffic flow.
The speed bump at Jalan TK4/5 near Pangsapuri Ceria is barely visible.
“With the right design, we can prevent accidents and reduce congestion,” he said.
Vijay Nadarajan, who lives along Jalan TK5/32a, hopes the project will kick off soon.
“We have been waiting for 30 years. The surrounding areas have grown tremendously.”
An MBSJ spokesperson confirmed that construction would only involve work along the road reserve and would not affect any other lots.
StarMetro had previously reported on the issue on Sept 29, 2022, when a townhall was held with residents.
Residents had pointed out that Jalan TK5/32a was meant only for people to get to the commercial area and was not suitable to be a main access road for thousands of vehicles.
The poor condition of Jalan TK4/5 in Taman Kinrara.Resident Sahimi Abdullah also voiced his concern about the lack of visible road markings along Jalan TK4/5, which had led to confusion.
“Vehicles coming from Persiaran Kinrara Section 3 often miss their lanes because the road lines are either faded or missing,” he said.
He highlighted the dangerous situation was further exacerbated by cars parked along Jalan TK4/5 which obstructed visibility.
“Drivers turning out of Jalan TK4/5 cannot see oncoming vehicles due to cars parked along the roadside,” he stressed.
To address the problem, Sahimi suggested installing a convex mirror at the junction to improve visibility.

Several traders along Jalan TK4/5 pointed out potholes and faded road markings.
One trader, who wanted to be known only as Aizat, said that driving through the road was like riding a roller coaster.
Taman Kinrara 4 resident Mazli Abdullah said young motorcyclists could often be seen riding without helmets.
Taman Kinrara folk are also plagued by illegal dumping issues.

A KDEB Waste Management (KDEB) spokesperson said several locations were frequently used by residents or outsiders as dumping spots.
“Although the arm-roll truck has been making scheduled collections in the Taman Kinrara Section 5 area, the illegal dumping continues.”
StarMetro visited the area and observed rubbish piled along several roadsides, including Jalan TK5/1, Jalan TK5/14, Jalan TK5/3, and the main road used by both visitors and residents, Jalan TK5/32a. – By MEGAT SYAHAR
