Hari Raya Open House Brings 400 Families Together in Puchong

PUCHONG INDAH: Festive celebrations continue to play a vital role in fostering harmony among Malaysia’s multiracial society, with a recent Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering bringing together some 400 families from Taman Puchong Perdana, Puchong Intan, and Puchong Indah.

Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han, who attended the Majlis Jalinan Aidilfitri at Gerai Syam Bawah Pokok in Kinrara, said Hari Raya offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen neighbourly bonds and promote unity.

“It highlights the significance of open houses in fostering understanding,” said Ng, who also serves as Selangor’s state investment, trade and mobility committee chairman. He added that such gatherings play a crucial role in nurturing camaraderie that extends well beyond the festive season.

Residents enjoyed a buffet spread featuring Thai and Kelantanese cuisine, prepared by Gerai Syam Bawah Pokok owner Mohd Isam Abdul Patah, 38, who expressed his happiness at being part of the celebration.

The three neighbourhoods—Puchong Perdana, Puchong Intan, and Puchong Indah—are mature communities known for their affordable housing and peaceful environment.

During the event, Ng presented contributions to underprivileged families. Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) contributed RM50 in cash to 40 individuals, while Amanat Lebuhraya Rakyat Bhd (ALR) provided RM50 vouchers for essential goods.

Recipients expressed their gratitude. Fatimah Ahmad, 60, said the contribution would help with her daily expenses. Former lorry driver Bachah Omar, 71, said the financial aid was deeply appreciated, while Arifin Nawi, 71, noted it would ease his family’s household costs.

Also present at the event were ALR traffic, engineering and safety head Muhd Nazri Muhd Nurdin; TNB Selangor retail division customer engagement team member Suhaila Mahmud; and Subang Jaya city councillor Ronald Tah.
