Motorcyclist snatches woman’s handbag at Puchong Jaya petrol station – be aware of your surroundings

PETALING JAYA: A woman’s quick stop at a petrol station took a terrifying turn when she became the victim of a brazen snatch theft, with the entire ordeal captured on camera and since going viral on social media.

The incident occurred on February 10, 2026, just days before the Chinese New Year celebrations, at a station in Puchong Jaya.

CCTV and dashcam footage circulating online show the victim using the pump terminal when a motorcyclist makes an initial pass, appearing to gesture toward her. Moments later, as she is refuelling her car, the same rider circles back.

In a chilling sequence, the motorcyclist pauses to reposition his bike before accelerating suddenly to snatch the victim’s handbag. The force of the grab pulls her to the ground. Disoriented and shaken, she is seen getting up and seeking help from the driver of the vehicle recording from behind.

In her social media post detailing the ordeal, the victim revealed that the stolen bag contained irreplaceable essentials: her mobile phone, wallet, house keys, and even her car key.

“This encounter is a stark reminder to everyone to always be aware of your surroundings,” she wrote. “Snatch thefts happen in the blink of an eye.”

The incident highlights a crime that remains all too common. Authorities and safety advocates often advise motorists, particularly those at petrol stations, to mitigate risk by carrying only essential items—such as a single credit card, a small amount of cash, and their car key—while securing all other belongings out of sight inside a locked vehicle.
