Man beaten by group after being accused of harassing another man's wife

SUBANG JAYA: A man was injured after he was assaulted by a group of men who accused him of harassing the wife of one of their members.

The incident took place at the Puchong Permai food court here on Thursday, when an unidentified man suddenly confronted and pushed the victim.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the victim sustained injuries on his face during the 5pm incident.

"Preliminary investigations showed that one of the group members appeared angry and accused the victim of harassing his wife.

“The victim was then assaulted by about 10 men,” he said in a statement today.

He said acting on information, the Subang Jaya district Criminal Investigation Division arrested four people, aged between 18 and 35, at about 1am today.

"During questioning, the suspects admitted to being involved in the incident.

"A remand application was filed today to assist investigations under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

"However, the remand request was rejected as the victim has since withdrawn the police report.

“Nevertheless, the investigation paper will be completed and referred to the deputy public prosecutor for further instruction,” he added.
