The 36-year-old allegedly committed the act at home when his wife was at work.
Bukit Aman sexual, women, and child investigation division deputy director Siti Kamsiah Hassan said police obtained a remand order to hold the suspect until Jan 20, for questioning.
PETALING JAYA:
A man suspected of sexually abusing his 15-year old stepdaughter at their home in Puchong earlier this month, has been arrested by police.
Bukit Aman sexual, women, and child investigation division deputy director Siti Kamsiah Hassan said the suspect, 36, was taken into custody last Monday after his wife lodged a report against him.
She added that police obtained a remand order to hold the suspect for questioning until Jan 20 as part of its investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
Siti Kamsiah said initial investigations found that the suspect had sexually abused the victim in 2021 and that the girl had informed her mother about the incident.
However, the woman didn’t lodge a report after the suspect promised not to do so again.
The victim told her mother on Jan 9 that the suspect had abused her at home again when her mother was at work.
The woman then lodged a report at the Putra Heights police station for further action.
