Malaysia records highest ever daily Covid-19 cases with 432


Each day shows new cases reported since the previous day

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of new Covid-19 cases sees a sharp increase today, with 432 new infections.

Today’s figure is the country’s all-time high. Yesterday, the Health Ministry logged 293 cases, and 317 cases the day before.

Of the total, 429 are local transmissions while three are imported cases.

This increases the cumulative number of cases to 12,813, with 2,336 active cases.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Kedah and Sabah recorded the highest number of new confirmed cases with 241 and 130 cases respectively.

Selangor, meanwhile, recorded 34 new cases, Kuala Lumpur with seven, Terengganu with five and Labuan with four.

Johor, Perak and Putrajaya recorded two cases each, while Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, Pahang and Sarawak recorded one case each.

He also said 57 people had been discharged from treatment, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,340 or 80.7 per cent.

No new deaths had been reported.
