Malaysia’s manufacturing sector recorded stronger sales in August 2026, with total sales increasing 9.9% year-on-year to RM185 billion, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).
The latest figures offer an encouraging signal for industrial businesses, manufacturers and suppliers, including companies operating in manufacturing hubs such as Puchong.

-
Year-on-year growth: 9.9%
-
Manufacturing production: Up 7.4% year-on-year
-

The growth in export-oriented industries was supported by computer, electronic and optical products, whose output increased 18.8%, alongside machinery and equipment manufacturing, which grew 13.8%.
Why This Matters to Puchong
Puchong has a substantial base of industrial businesses, machinery suppliers, engineering companies and logistics operators. Stronger manufacturing activity nationally could create opportunities for local suppliers and service providers, depending on their customer industries and order books.
Potential areas to watch include:
-
Demand for industrial equipment and components
-
Business opportunities for logistics and distribution providers
-
Orders for engineering and maintenance services
-
Demand from electronics and machinery manufacturers
However, national growth figures do not necessarily mean every Puchong business will experience higher sales. The effect will depend on individual industries, operating costs and customer demand.

For Puchong business owners, have you noticed stronger demand from manufacturing customers recently, or are higher operating costs still affecting business?
