PETALING JAYA: Istana Negara has postponed a meeting between the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu to a later date, the two party leaders say.
In a joint statement, the DAP secretary-general and the Parti Amanah Negara president said they were supposed to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today (Oct 14) and Oct 22 respectively.
“However, we were contacted by the King’s private secretary who informed us that the meeting has been postponed.
“We acknowledge the advice and pray for the good health and wellbeing of the King and Queen and the rest of the royal household,” the leaders said.
On Tuesday (Oct 13), a source said Lim had been summoned to the Palace for an audience with the King but did not provide further details about the meeting.
PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also met with the King for 25 minutes on Tuesday where he presented his claim of having more than 120 MPs in his bid to become prime minister.
However, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Anwar gave the King the numbers he claimed to have but did not give out the names of the MPs to verify his claim.
The King has also advised Anwar to follow and respect the legal process as stated in the Federal Constitution.
