A major enforcement operation by the Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia in Puchong resulted in the arrest of 74 foreign nationals suspected of various immigration offences.
The operation, carried out by the Immigration Enforcement Division from Putrajaya, targeted multiple business premises including restaurants, grocery shops, barber shops, laundries, kiosks, and supermarkets following public complaints and a week-long intelligence effort.
According to immigration authorities, inspections were conducted at 30 premises involving 186 foreign nationals and 175 locals. Those detained included individuals from Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and China aged between 23 and 45 years old.
Investigations revealed that some employers allegedly used legitimate business licences to conceal the hiring of undocumented foreign workers in order to avoid detection and maximize profits. Authorities also stated that several individuals attempted to resist enforcement efforts by refusing to cooperate, provoking officers, or trying to flee during inspections.
Five witness summonses were also issued to Malaysian citizens to assist investigations. All detainees have since been taken to immigration depots for further action under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
The operation reflects ongoing efforts by authorities to combat illegal employment and strengthen immigration enforcement in high-risk business sectors.
