Hindu Shrine in Puchong Apartment Corridor Relocated After Concerns Raised by Residents

PUCHONG - A shrine featuring a statue of the Hindu deity Karuppasamy that was previously placed in a shared corridor of an apartment in Puchong has been relocated following concerns from residents. The statue, which had been positioned near a staircase in the communal walkway, drew attention online after images of it began circulating on social media.

According to a statement released by the National Malaysia Hindhudharma Maamandram at 11:00 PM on 12 March, the family involved has temporarily moved the shrine to the apartment’s basement area. The organisation clarified that the basement is only a temporary placement while a more suitable location is being considered.

The relocation was carried out through cooperation between the family, the MHS Puchong Local Council Community, and the Kinrara Municipal Councillor. Authorities stated that the matter was resolved peacefully with the family’s full cooperation.

Maamandram also advised other families who may have placed religious statues in shared residential spaces to relocate them to appropriate private areas or designated religious locations to avoid obstructing communal facilities.
