Grass fire damages local council vehicle storage in Puchong

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 44 vehicles at a local council’s storage facility for unserviceable vehicles were affected after a grass fire spread to the site in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, this afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 2.40pm regarding the fire, which had initially broken out in a grassed area before spreading to the open-structured storage facility, covering about 1.6 hectares.

“The fire was successfully brought under control, and no casualties were reported. The operation concluded at 6.20pm,” he said in a statement today.

He added that 12 personnel from the Cyberjaya and Bangi Fire and Rescue stations were deployed to contain the blaze.
