Selangor continues to attract major technology investment, with Google highlighting the state’s supportive business environment as a key reason for choosing Selangor for its first data centre in Malaysia.
The US$2 billion (over RM8 billion) Google investment includes a data centre and Google Cloud region at Elmina Business Park, Selangor. The project is expected to generate more than US$3.2 billion (RM13.05 billion) in economic impact by 2030.
Google also expects the project to create thousands of jobs over the next three to five years, including hundreds of permanent, high-value positions once the facility becomes operational.
For residents around Puchong and the wider Klang Valley, the development could bring opportunities in technology, data centre operations, engineering, construction, local contracting and digital skills as Selangor’s data centre ecosystem continues to expand.
