(Puchong, 25th) Puchong Chinese Association Federation President Gao Xiangwei said that the Hungry Ghost Festival ceremonies of various associations in Puchong have been established one after another since 1991, and the “Puchong Hungry Ghost Festival Association” was officially established in 1998. Currently, there are 21 associations joining, from Puchong, Subang and southern Kuala Lumpur.

“The latest addition, the Puchong Shenwei Temple, has just completed its social registration and meets the principles for establishing the association. From now on, it will become a member of the Puchong Yulan Shenghui Association.”

He said that the Yulan Festival organization must be initiated by volunteers. As a public platform, its accounts must be transparent and it must uphold the spirit of supporting Chinese education and cultural heritage and be established without involving personal interests.

“More importantly, the organization must be responsible for the society. This is also the key reason why the Puchong Yulan Festival can develop steadily.”

He also mentioned that the Puchong Chinese Association Federation has a religious standing committee chaired by Master Yap Tien Hock, who also serves as the general coordinator of the Puchong Yulan Sheng Hui Association. The general coordinator mainly provides technical guidance, supervision, and schedules for activities organized by various associations during the seventh lunar month each year.

“We have always encouraged all Yulan Festival organizations to communicate more and compete less, and we do not set any restrictions. We welcome more devotees to participate actively.”
