SUBANG JAYA: Police arrested four youths and seized 14 motorcycles during a late-night traffic enforcement operation along the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP). The operation started last night and concluded early this morning.
The joint operation was conducted by the Subang Jaya Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department with support from the Selangor Traffic Unit. It began at 11.30pm near the Batu 13 Puchong toll plaza and involved 118 personnel, including 11 officers.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said a total of 120 individuals and 115 motorcycles were inspected.
“Police issued 56 summonses for various traffic offences. We also detected one motorcyclist riding under the influence of alcohol, who is now being investigated under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement.
Wan Azlan added that four other riders were detained under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act for reckless and dangerous riding.
“Police also seized 14 motorcycles, mainly due to illegal modifications and riding without a valid licence,” he said.
He urged parents and guardians to take an active role in preventing teenagers from getting involved in illegal racing.
“We advise parents to monitor their children’s activities to ensure they stay away from illegal racing, which poses danger to both the riders and other road users,” he said.
Wan Azlan noted that similar enforcement operations will continue at identified hotspots in Subang Jaya to curb unlawful and irresponsible road behaviour.
