KL, Dec 2 — Flood Death Toll Rises to Six, 140,896 Displaced Nationwide
The flood crisis in Malaysia has claimed six lives, with the latest fatalities involving two elderly men in Kelantan who drowned while monitoring livestock. Despite this, the total number of flood victims has slightly decreased to 140,896 from 148,024 reported earlier.

Perak:
130 victims from 36 families have been moved to 10 relief centres in districts like Larut, Matang, Selama, Hilir Perak, Kinta, and Kampar. -
Pahang:
The number of displaced individuals has risen to 1,230 from 421 families in Raub, Jerantut, and Lipis. Sultan Abdullah has urged authorities to provide consistent weather and flood updates for public safety. -
Johor:
Victim numbers increased to 728 from 199 families. Dangerous water levels have been reported in rivers like Sungai Muar and Sungai Tangkak. There are currently 17 active relief centres, including Sekolah Agama Buloh Kasap in Segamat. -
Melaka:
241 victims from 58 families are currently displaced, with Jasin being the worst-hit district. -
Kelantan:
The number of flood victims dropped to 88,742 across 253 relief centres. Pasir Mas district is most affected, recording 29,338 victims. Major rivers like Sungai Golok and Sungai Semerak continue to breach dangerous levels. -
Terengganu:
40,604 victims remain in relief centres, with districts such as Besut, Dungun, and Hulu Terengganu being severely impacted. A total of 45 roads are closed across the state. -
Kedah:
The number of evacuees has decreased to 7,954 from 2,398 families, with victims sheltered in 48 relief centres across six districts. -
Negeri Sembilan:
A decline in flood victims has been reported, with 1,198 people from 317 families housed at nine relief centres in Kuala Pilah, Tampin, and Jempol. -
Perlis:
The number of victims dropped to 69 people, who are still sheltering at SK Arau.
Authorities’ Response:
State disaster management committees and the Social Welfare Department are actively coordinating relief efforts. The Malaysian Meteorological Department continues to monitor weather conditions, with clear skies expected in parts of Johor tonight, while rain is predicted in other areas.
The public is urged to stay alert, especially those in at-risk areas, as major rivers remain at dangerous levels and road closures persist.
