Fire Destroys Hardware Shop in Puchong Industrial Area

A hardware shop in the T2 Puchong Utama Industrial Area was almost completely destroyed in a fire on the morning of July 9, although firefighters successfully prevented the blaze from spreading to four adjoining shoplots.

According to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, an emergency call was received at 8.26am, with the first fire engine from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station arriving at the scene just seven minutes later.

The fire involved a row of five double-storey shoplots, with the affected hardware shop suffering around 90% damage. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it could spread to the remaining premises.

Four workers who were inside the shop escaped safely before rescue teams arrived. They sustained only minor smoke inhalation, and no fatalities or serious injuries were reported.

The fire was brought under control at 9.16am, while overhaul operations continued to ensure no remaining hotspots were left behind.

A total of 32 firefighters, assisted by two Community Fire Brigade members, took part in the operation using four fire engines, two Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicles, two water tankers, and a utility vehicle.

The cause of the fire and the total estimated losses are still under investigation.
