A family of three in Saujana Puchong recently suffered food poisoning after picking and cooking wild mushrooms found along the roadside of Persiaran Saujana Puchong.
According to the Petaling District Health Office (PKD Petaling), the family unknowingly picked False Parasol mushrooms (Chlorophyllum molybdites). Within one to two hours after eating them, all three developed severe symptoms, including vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain, and required outpatient medical treatment.

Many of our residential areas in Puchong—especially around Saujana Puchong, Taman Wawasan, and near the forest reserves—have lush green shoulders where wild fungi grow quickly after rainy days. It can be tempting for elderly family members or curious kids to pick them. Please remind your family never to harvest or consume wild plants or mushrooms from public spaces.
