An elderly Malaysian hawker’s move to safeguard his mental health is now acting as a reminder to the general public to do the same.

Reddit user @Blcksheep89 took to Reddit’s r/Bolehland to share a photo of the elderly hawker’s note stuck to his Western food stall at a Puchong food court, stating that he will be taking 5 days off because he was feeling down. Despite saying he is taking 5 days off, the dates on his note showed 4 days, from June 30 (Monday) to July 3 (Thursday).

In his note, the hawker wrote, “I am feeling down. I am taking a 5-day break and am going out to relax. I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

@Blcksheep89 said, “I find this to be so cute. Uncle is around 60 years old already and still prioritises self-care. I hope uncle has a good rest!”

“Come back stronger!”

Many supported the hawker’s move to close his business for a break and encouraged the general public to show their support for the elderly man.
