KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods have been reported in parts of Kuala Lumpur after a morning downpour on Tuesday (Oct 15).

The floods also led to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul calling a temporary halt to Parliament proceedings as several MPs were stuck in floods.

He exercised his power under Standing Order 12(2) to adjourn the sitting.

Checks by The Star found that several roads leading to Parliament were inundated due to the heavy rain.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) reported that a flash flood on Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) between Bandar Utama and Taman Tun Dr Ismail had fully subsided.

The flash flood had earlier caused two lanes of the highway to be closed temporarily after being inundated.

Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) Command & Control Centre reports that the SMART Tunnel has been closed for flood operations as at 10.50am.

It also reported that flash floods were reported in parts of the city centre and advised motorists to be careful on the road.
