Covered Walkway Planned Near Puchong School to Improve Students’ Daily Commute

Students and families in Puchong Prima may benefit from a new covered pedestrian walkway connecting LRT Puchong Prima station and SMK Puchong Permai. The project was announced on 13 October 2026 following a pedestrian walkway audit in the surrounding area.

The proposed walkway aims to provide a safer and more comfortable route for students travelling between the school and the LRT station, particularly during hot weather and rainy days.

When Will Construction Begin?

  • Expected start: Within the next one to two months, subject to approval.

  • Estimated construction period: Approximately six months.

  • Approval required: The project must receive approval from the One-Stop Centre (OSC).

  • Project parties: Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) and the developer.

Other Pedestrian Improvements in the Area

During the audit on 13 October, Selangor state executive councillor Ng Sze Han visited Puchong Prima and Puchong Permai with MBSJ Zone 14 councillor Kamarul Hafiz Kamarudin and council representatives.

The inspection found that pedestrian walkways were generally in fairly good condition, although two to three locations still needed improvements.

Why This Matters to Local Families

A covered walkway could make the daily school commute more convenient for students who rely on public transport. It could also encourage more people to walk between residential areas, schools and nearby LRT stations.

However, the project remains subject to approval, and the construction schedule has not yet been confirmed.
