A total of 7,213 students from 78 schools under the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) jurisdiction are receiving nutritional assistance this year through the Selangor Nutrition Programme (NutriSel).
The programme was highlighted during a symbolic handover ceremony at SMK Puchong, where 322 students out of 1,796 enrolled students are receiving meals across the morning and afternoon sessions.
NutriSel runs from August to October and is intended to help ease the financial burden on lower-income families while providing students with sufficient nutrition to support concentration and learning.
The programme targets primary and secondary school students from B40 households earning below RM2,000 per month, particularly those who do not receive assistance through the Supplementary Food Programme.
For 2026, the Selangor government has allocated RM14.4 million for NutriSel, covering 962 selected schools and an estimated 106,000 students statewide.
The initiative is jointly implemented by the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit, local authorities, Selangor Education Department and Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
For families in Puchong, the programme provides targeted food assistance to eligible students while supporting their nutritional needs during the school year.
