A burst of lively and colorful Chinese New Year decorations at IOI Puchong Mall came to a momentary standstill as a fire broke out, causing one of the decorations to ignite.
A widely shared video on social media captured the flames engulfing the roof of a pagoda-shaped decoration, showing a man using a fire extinguisher to successfully put out the fire. This resulted in thick columns of smoke lingering around the mall.
IOI Puchong Mall’s management released an official statement on its Facebook page, confirming the incident. The statement conveyed sadness about the occurrence at 7:10 pm, assuring that no injuries or harm occurred, and the fire was promptly contained by 7:15 pm.
The cause is currently under investigation, and they are collaborating with authorities. The management apologized for any inconvenience and confirmed that regular operations have resumed without further disruption.
