The child, who was on vacation with his family, entered the adult pool without the knowledge of his parents.
PETALING JAYA:
A seven-year-old boy drowned in the swimming pool of an apartment in Puchong on Sunday.
Sepang police chief Norhizam Bahaman said police received a report from the hospital at 2.40pm, Berita Harian reported.
He said the victim was rushed unconscious to Hospital Sultan Idris Shah in Serdang and later pronounced dead.
“The victim and his family, who reside in Kampung Beserah, Kuantan, Pahang, were on vacation at a relative’s home in the apartment,” Norhizam was quoted as saying in a statement.
“At around 11.30am, the victim and his family went to the swimming pool, and the child entered the adult pool without their knowledge, where he drowned.”
Norhizam said a post-mortem confirmed that the cause of death was drowning.
The case was classified as sudden death, and investigations are being conducted under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001.
