64-Year-Old Malaysian Spends RM3,000 Transforming His Puchong Home into a Hari Raya Aidilfitri Wonderland

A 64-year-old Malaysian man has captured the attention of his neighbourhood by transforming his home in Kampung Sri Langkas, Puchong into a dazzling festive display for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, spending about RM3,000 on decorative lighting.

Featured on the Prime Minister’s Department’s Facebook page, Zakariah Hamid, a retired private-sector worker, shared that decorating his house has become a meaningful tradition he looks forward to every year. What began with simple oil lamps and lanterns has now evolved into an elaborate setup using solar-powered lights, which are more practical and energy-efficient.

His home now shines with hundreds of colourful light sets, along with miniature replicas of iconic landmarks like the Petronas Twin Towers and Kuala Lumpur Tower, giving it a standout appearance compared to others in the area.

The vibrant display has not only enhanced the festive atmosphere but also drawn visitors from nearby communities, helping to strengthen neighbourhood bonds and revive the spirit of celebration.
