21-Year-Old Suffers Severe Head Injury in Puchong Go-Kart Accident

A 21-year-old man suffered severe head injuries after a go-kart accident at a racing circuit in Puchong during the early hours of 11 July.

The incident reportedly occurred at around 2.37am while the victim was participating in a recreational go-kart session with a group of 13 youths. According to witnesses, the victim’s long hair was not secured and became entangled in one of the kart’s wheels, resulting in a horrific accident that allegedly tore off his scalp.

Witnesses said the victim was able to stand after the crash but was covered in blood. They also claimed the race was not immediately stopped, leaving other go-karts circulating the track while the injured victim remained on the circuit.

Several allegations have since emerged regarding the emergency response. Witnesses claimed the marshal assigned to the corner was not at the post when the accident happened and that no immediate professional medical assistance was provided. Instead, friends of the victim, including a medical student, reportedly administered first aid using supplies from a first aid kit while trying to stop the bleeding.

The victim was later transported to Hospital Serdang in a vehicle belonging to the circuit management before being transferred to Hospital Putrajaya, where he underwent emergency surgery for severe head trauma.

The incident has sparked concerns over track safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and the availability of medical personnel during motorsport activities. Questions have also been raised over the circuit’s operations beyond its stated 2am closing time.

The victim’s family has declined to comment further, saying they are currently focused on his recovery. Meanwhile, the circuit operator has yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident.
