KANGAR: A man suffered serious burns after his Perodua Alza caught fire in Bintong here yesterday evening.
Videos of the man walking away from the burning car while his body was on fire have since gone viral on social media.
The 8.45pm incident took place at Jalan Baru in Kampung Syed Omar, Bintong.
Kangar Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Shahrunnizam Kamar Bashah said 10 firefighters and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call about 8.49pm.
“Upon arrival, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and we managed to put the fire out by 9.20pm,” he said.
The driver who suffered 80 per cent burnt, was rushed to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital.
