KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Sufian Suhaimi has confirmed that he will soon welcome his first child, as his wife is now 37 weeks pregnant.
Sufian, 34, described the happy news as a new phase in his life and admitted that they are now just waiting for the moment of birth.
“That’s right, I’m going to become a father. Right now, we’re just waiting for the time, as the pregnancy has reached almost 37 weeks. It could be any time now that my wife gives birth,” he said when met at the Seloka Lebaran 2026 Open House event here.
When asked about the baby’s gender, the singer of “Di Matamu” chose to keep it a secret as a surprise.
Elaborating on their preparations, Sufian said all the baby’s necessities have been prepared, but feelings of nervousness remain as this is their first experience becoming parents.
"Preparation of items feels complete, but emotionally and mentally, there’s still anxiety. Even when I ask friends, no one is 100 percent ready for their first child. But overall, I’m very excited.
“I’ve also attended parenting preparation classes, and when scrolling through TikTok, I do watch a lot of parenting tips,” he told Harian Metro.
Regarding the choice of the baby’s name, Sufian shared that he has several suggestions but has not finalized any yet. He added that the baby shopping was mostly handled by his wife.
“Of course, my wife is more excited about choosing. She adds to cart, I check out,” he joked.
Meanwhile, Sufian expressed gratitude that his wife did not experience severe morning sickness throughout her pregnancy.
"My wife is very strong; there was no extreme morning sickness. Even during the first trimester, she vomited less than ten times. As for cravings, nothing strange—because we both love eating out. So the difference wasn’t very noticeable.
“Although my wife has a gentle and pampering personality, she’s actually very active. Every day after dawn prayers, she asks me to accompany her on a three-kilometer brisk walk. I’m grateful she hasn’t had any worrying issues,” he said.
